Care and Cleaning
Your jewelry should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. This way you can avoid coating them with lotions, hair products, or perfumes. These products can dull and possibly harm your jewelry.
Wipe off your jewelry with a clean, soft cloth to remove skin oils and any other residue before storing to help prevent tarnish and prolong the patina.
Do not use cloths embedded with polishing or cleaning agents as these can remove the patina.
Store jewelry in a safe, dry place away from direct sunlight and direct humidity. This will help prevent tarnishing, scratching, and other damage.
Do not wear you jewelry while swimming or in the shower.
Remove jewelry before performing household chores or any strenuous activity.
Do not sleep with your jewelry still on, especially earrings. This can cause unnecessary stress and pressure making your jewelry more likely to break.
Diluted mild dish soap and warm (never hot) water can be used to clean your jewelry. Make sure to dry thoroughly after.
*** If your jewelry has any type of opal, take extra care exposing it to water and never expose it to hot water as it can cause the stone to shatter. I suggest researching how to clean and care for opal jewelry before doing anything as they are very fragile stones and water can affect them adversely. When and if you do get an opal wet do not panic! The color will change as opals take in water it does not mean your ruined it. The color will go back to normal as the stone dries usually in around 8-12 hours.
