Care and Energy Cleansing
How to clean your jewelry so it looks and feels like new for a lifetime.

This isn't just jewelry. It's a companion, a tool, a sacred object. Just like you, it deserves mindful care.
Your jewelry should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. This way you can avoid coating them with lotions, hair products, or perfumes. These products can dull and possibly harm your jewelry.
Wipe off your jewelry with a clean, soft cloth to remove skin oils and any other residue before storing to help prevent tarnish and prolong the patina.
Do not use cloths embedded with polishing or cleaning agents. They can be quite abrasive and will remove the patina (intentionally blackened areas) and gold plating.
How to Shine it Up (But Tread Carefully)
If you want to bring back brightness on raised areas, you can use a polishing cloth. But, proceed with caution. Fold the cloth to get a small point and gently wipe only the high spots. Just go slow and check in between wipes. This is a do it at your own risk move. Speaking from experience, those cloths can take off more than you intended very quickly.

Store jewelry in a safe, dry place away from direct sunlight and direct humidity. This will help prevent tarnishing, scratching, and other damage. I also recommend setting them in a bowl of selenite at the end of the day for an energetic cleansing and reset.
Do not wear your jewelry while swimming or in the shower.
Remove jewelry before performing household chores or any strenuous activity.
Do not sleep with your jewelry still on, especially earrings. This can cause unnecessary stress and pressure making your jewelry more likely to break.
Diluted mild dish soap and warm (never hot) water can be used to clean your jewelry. Make sure to dry thoroughly after.
***See bottom note regarding opals and water.
Because Jewelry Carries Energy Too
Just like us, our jewelry can absorb excess energy and can benefit from energetic cleansing. I do recommend storing pieces you wear daily in a shallow selenite bowl or on a bar of selenite. It offers your piece a gentle reset by clearing out old and stagnant energy. Either can easily be found at local metaphysical and crystal shops. Opal Care and Cleaning
*** If your jewelry has any type of opal, take extra care exposing it to water and never expose it to hot water as it can cause the stone to shatter. I suggest researching how to clean and care for opal jewelry before doing anything as they are very fragile stones and water can affect them adversely. When and if you do get an opal wet do not panic! The color will change as opals take in water it does not mean you ruined it. The color will go back to normal as the stone dries usually in around 8-12 hours.
